Hotel Le Bristol first received guests in 1951.  At the time, Lebanon was entering its golden age and the hotel’s owners spared no effort to position it as a landmark in a city then poised to become the beating heart of the region.

The hotel’s first General Manager, Georges al-Rayess, was also known for his contribution to the culinary arts and wrote a series of cookbooks that continue to set standards.  Under his guidance, Le Bristol became one of Beirut’s most prominent addresses, its fame spreading across Lebanon and the Middle East.

Over the years, Hotel Le Bristol has hosted numerous distinguished individuals, VIPs and their delegations and is still the location of choice for prestigious conferences, banquets and cocktail events. The list includes:
  • the late Shah and Princess Souraya of Iran
  • the late King Hussein and Princess Dina of Jordan
  • Prince Majed, Emir of Mecca
  • President Chirac of France
  • Crown Prince Abdallah Bin Abdel Aziz, currently King of Saudi Arabia
  • President of Gabon, Mr Gabrial Leon M’ba
  • Prince Albert of Monaco
  • US Senators Nick Rahal and Ray Lahoud
  • Boutros Boutros-Ghali, former Secretary General of the United Nations

Rather than rest on its laurels, Hotel Le Bristol maintains its well-deserved reputation by evolving with the times. The phased renovation currently underway is part of our commitment to remain up-to-date.
